If you have yet to hear or see the Robert Glasper Experiment perform their amazing fusion of jazz, hip-hop, soul, and even alternative, now’s your chance to join in on the fun times. Obviously, the quickest and easiest way to watch and hear the ensemble is to check out the embedded videos below. The first one is their phenomenal interpretation of Nirvana’s classic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (which, I hope many, many people have already seen by now). The second is a song titled “Cherish The Day”, which features vocalist Lalah Hathaway. This brings us to another, and arguably better, method of seeing RGE play these and more songs off their current album, Black Radio: Going to Harlem’s Marcus Garvey Park where they AND Lalah are playing a free concert. If you’re really a jazz-head and appreciate a more traditional sound and slower speed, you’ll be glad to know that Avery Sunshine will also be appearing. The show starts at 7pm and I believe the stage is near 122nd Street and Mt. Morris Park West (see map).
