Watch Santigold’s just released video for the latest single – The Keepers – off of Master of My Make Believe. This track has that electro-retro feel, though in a new-wavy and not so much a funky type of way. Though this track is a bit light on the rhythm and bass for our typical tastes, the lyrics and the content of the video is something that we can definitely feel. It’s a satyrical take on American society that seems very much inspired by the “critically acclaimed” movie The Help (I actually haven’t seen it yet… not sure if I will) that seems to tackle several social issues with the aggression of a linebacker. Thought and emotion provoking stuff! I’m curious to see how she performs this live. If you haven’t seen it, check out how Santigold brings the imagery of the “Disparate Youth” video to her showcase performance at SXSW 2012.
BTW: The Keepers marks Santigold’s directorial debut… she’s even more talented than I knew!
