Cypress Hill is still grinding after two decades in the game, and the crew is still pushing the envelope – musically and socially. The Southern Cali rap icons are scheduled to unload a new hybrid hip hop/dubstep EP next month (April) in collaboration with UK artist, Rusko. Whether you love dubstep or hate it, or are somewhere in the middle like many of us, this project should challenge our assumptions about what Cypress, and hip hop more generally, should and shouldn’t sound like. This past Saturday in San Bernadino, CA, the group also reminded people that it’s not afraid to challenge society’s status quo by organizing and performing at the annual pro-legalization (of weed obviously) SmokeOut Festival, which B-Real and Sen Dog founded back in 1998. The SmokeOut line-up also featured Korn, Thievery Corporation,Wiz Khalifa, Wolfgang Gartner, Curren$y, Schoolboy Q, Danny Brown, Mobb Deep and other acts.

Check out the video for the first single from the upcoming Cypress Hill X Rusko EP (below) as well as a few seconds of footage (only posted because I think it’s cool to see B-Real on percussion even for just 5 seconds) from Cypress Hill live at SmokeOut (further below). Enjoy!
