Talib Kweli’s latest album, Gutter Rainbows has been out for some time now, though you might not know this if you’ve looked for it in a Best Buy, Target, or one of the few other North American brick and mortar retailers who still sell music on CD. That’s because the album was only released digitally here in the US and in Canada*. So, if you’ve been in London or another European city at some point this Spring, you could‘ve waltzed into a Virgin Store (or wherever they sell music in tangible form over there), copped the new Kweli, and brought it back to this side of the pond like a pair of exclusive kicks. Apparently you also could’ve met Kweli while shopping and wound-up in his new video for Mr. International. Think about the story you could’ve had – not only did you get that exclusive Kweli album, but you ended-up in his video, too! Your peoples would surely be impressed. At least they would be if they’re real fans of Kweli’s music. Unfortunately, the video for Mr. International isn’t all-that, so being seen in this video is far from an automatic props earner. Unless you’re the chick who asks Kweli about coming to Brixton. Though, I’m a little disspointed in the video, the fact is that it does show Kweli as being down-to-earth, which, according to the YouTube comments, his fans appreciate.
* The availablity of Gutter Rainbows on CD is a slightly confusing topic. As far as I know it’s only available on CD as an import to North American customers. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
